Angkor Temple Complex
I’ve been having a great time in Siem Reap for the last 10 days! Back on the road tomorrow so here’s the roundup..
I’ve been hanging out with a Welsh friend called James who I previously met in Lijiang, China- the other bearded fellow in this post. It meant a few nights of boozing, and therefore a few days of hangovers! Also in town is Veronica who I’ve seen in Lijiang, Luang Prabang, Phnom Penh and now Siem Reap! I’ve therefore only just used the last of my 3 days of entry into the Angkor Temples!
So, I got a 3 day pass, which lets you go in to see the sunset, and then 3 more full days. In the end I’ve only really done 3 half-days. I would get up at about 4.30am, and cycle in the dark out to the temples to get there for sunrise, and explore the temples whilst there was good light and relatively few people around!
Instead of describing the photos, I’m just going to add the gallery at the end of the post. You should be able to click through to SmugMug to view them all there too, or you can just click here now.
Here they are on a map too, if you’re more of a spatial thinker like me!
So yeah, back on the road tomorrow- about 4 days of riding to Bangkok, and that’s the trip done! I then have a week there, fly to Melbourne, have 10 days there before taking the container ship back to Dunedin, NZ- within a day or two of 365 days since I left! Crazy to think that the trip’s almost over- I could write several posts about the mixed emotions I’m feeling at the moment, but needless to say, it has it’s highs and lows.
