Summary Post: Czech Republic
May 19th, 2012 by DC
Wow, how’s this for quick- less than 12 hours out of the country and I’m writing the summary post! Here it is for the Czech Republic..
Once I got settled in I really enjoyed the Czech Republic. I wish I’d stayed in the cheap campgrounds more, but it was mainly the cities and towns that I wanted to see, and I find that easier from a hostel.
Riding was varied- often on cycle routes that followed quiet roads. In the south is seemed a lot steeper, but from Prague north it followed the river to Germany.
- Days in country: 9
- Days riding: 5
- Kilometres ridden: 470 km (longest day 113km ()
- Running total (nearest 10km): 3020km
- Accom cost: ~100 Euro (Due to quite a few nights in hostels)
- Other costs: ~105 Euro (Lots of beer, even though it was cheap)
- Flats: Two, grrr..
- Other people cycled with: One (Lee the Korean)
- 3 days in Prague getting over a cold
- Real Czech pubs visited: 7 or 8
- Favourite food/drink: Pilsner, and lots of it!
- 2 nights in a campground, 7 nights in hostels and 0 nights with Warmshowers hosts.
- Favourite photo: Beer, the bike, and the dog!
And the map (It’s missing the first bit of the last day across the border but I can’t be bothered fixing it…):
